offered a rest time for an additional charge of
$8 per hour. Rest time schedules must be set up
in advance and included in the family's contract.

Clean Up/Farewell
The Montessori House of St. Johns is a year round school. The parents of our community voted on our schedule last December, choosing to have our 8 weeks of vacation broken up over the school year rather than having two months off in the summer. This quarter system is beneficial to the children and allows families to have a vacation in each season.
Most Montessori schools follow the Portland Public Schools (PPS) Calendar. They have a 12 week summer vacation school dismisses mid-June and reconvenes early September). They also have a two week Winter Vacation (same as ours) and a one week Spring Vacation in late March. In addition PPS schools are closed 6 days for national holidays and 7 days for professional planning/development days. Essentially PPS is closed for 17.5 weeks each year. In 2011, we will be closed for 9.5 weeks: 8 weeks of vacation, 6 days for national holidays, and 2 days for professional development.
